A vintage Fender 4-string heart-stopper for players who love that up-front sound.

The Fender Jazz Bass (or J Bass) was the second bass guitar created by Leo Fender. The bass is distinct from the Precision Bass in that its tone is brighter and richer in the midrange with less emphasis on the fundamental harmonic. Because of this, many bass players who want to be more "forward" in the mix prefer the Fender Jazz Bass.

First introduced in 1960, the Jazz Bass featured a redesigned neck—narrower and more rounded than that of the Precision Bass. The Fender Jazz Bass has two single coil pickups with two pole pieces per string. This gave the bass a stronger treble sound for a "bright" sound.

This Master Built 1970s Jazz Bass has a relic finish with vintage electronics and other desirable features. The thin lacquer finish gives the Fender bass a worn, and rugged look, while exposing the bottom colors. It shows heavy arm and edge wear, as well as scrapes and dings. The body is composed of a 2-piece ash construction, with a 3-bolt neck design. The vintage chrome plating also has the relic treatment, still giving it shine, but worn to look like it has been on the road for years. The chrome bridge, bone nut, medium jumbo frets, and custom Madagascar rosewood fretboard offers lasting sustain and unparalleled clarity. The Fender J bass U-neck shape and 9.5" radius offers comfort when dancing across the fretboard, and the nickel tuners keep the bass in key. Other appointments include block inlays, standard chrome bridge, white pearl pickguard, and Relic J-Bass bridge and neck pickups. Dressed in a vintage thin lacquer finish, the electric bass guitar's covering will get better with age.

Relic treatment
The 70's Fender Jazz Bass has been given Fender Custom Shop's Relic treatment, which shows natural wear and tear of years of heavy use, nicks, scratches, worn finish rusty hardware and aged plastic parts. Fender Custom Shop wants its basses to feel like they had been played every night for 40 years. In the end, these Relic-treated guitars and basses end up being not a tribute to any famous guitarist, but a tribute to the instrument itself.
