In 1961 Gibson president Ted McCarty set out to create a better Les Paul by lightening it up and increasing access to the upper frets. The result was this radical new, highly carved design--the Solid Guitar, shortened to SG. With '57 Classic pickups (Gibson's spot-on re-creation of the original "Patent Applied For" humbuckers), and a solid mahogany body and neck, this is the real McCoy.
