Paul Reed Smith DC 22

Paul Reed Smith DC 22 Limited Edition Electric Guitar Lemon Burst

Paul Reed Smith DC 22 Limited Edition Electric Guitar Lemon Burst

The first ever 22-fret Santana with a stoptail.

The limited edition PRS DC 22 Electric Guitar is part of a 25-piece exclusive run commissioned by Musician's Friend Private Reserve. The special guitar combines Paul Reed Smith's original guitar body shape, a 22-fret neck length, and a stoptail for a beautiful and highly collectible guitar that has never been offered before.

The result is that the PRS limited DC 22 is instantly an ultra-rare and ultra-cool electric with appointments to satisfy the most discerning guitarist. The Musician's Friend Private Reserve team hand-selected the materials for these guitars in collaboration with the PRS Wood Library team. As a bonus, each guitar in this special run of 25 is crafted with a numbered backplate and a letter of authenticity signed by Paul Reed Smith himself.

PRS Exclusive run
This is the first-ever production of a 22-fret Santana body guitar with a stoptail. Carlos' guitar usually features a 24-fret neck, a design that moves the neck pickup toward the bridge, producing a brighter tone. With the 22-fret neck, the pickup is moved closer to the midpoint of the string's speaking length, which in turn produces a warmer, fatter tone.

The MFPR and PRS teams hand-selected the mahogany backs and necks to ensure that these guitars and their extraordinary components produce the specific tonal characteristics desired.

PRS DC 22 guitar appointments include a bookmatched maple top, lightweight mahogany back, 24-1/2" scale, mahogany neck, East Indian rosewood fretboard, moon inlays, and a Modified Santana neck carve. The PRS guitar is finished in a high gloss nitro-cellulose topcoat over polyester basecoat with a satin nitro-cellulose finished neck. The satin-finished neck feels remarkably comfortable and allows easy movement between low and high registers.

PRS Stoptail bridge
Designed to take full advantage of the resonant properties of its guitars, the PRS Stoptail Bridge provides direct transmission of string vibration to the guitar body and makes set-up a breeze. This bridge features slots that recess the strings comfortably as they pass over the top, in a gentle curve. Although it is pre-compensated for modern string gauges, further fine-tuning is possible by adjusting the set screws at each end of the bridge. Action height is adjustable by raising or lowering the studs the bridge sits on.

PRS 59/09 pickups
Originally added to Paul Reed Smith Guitars' 1957/2008 series line of pickups, the PRS 59/09s offer a slightly darker and more powerful sound in the bridge with a touch more clarity and brightness in the neck. PRS wanted to provide the same vibe as the revered 1957/2008, but with additional output for players wanting to drive the amp's front end a little earlier, while providing a wider spread of tone between the neck and bridge pickups.

These pickups are made from PRS' exclusive wire produced on the original machine used to make classic '50s era pickups. They incorporate proprietary winding and magnet innovations to produce iconic sounds with unique tonality.

The PRS DC 22 Limited Edition is a monumental guitar that will bring you years of creative enjoyment.
