Historic 58 LP Plain Top. In an effort to jump start the steadily declining sales of the Les Paul Model, Gibson decided to abandon the familiar gold finish and use a translucent, cherry sunburst finish which would show off the highly figured maple tops that were often used on Les Pauls. The renamed Les Paul Standard made its debut in 1958. Includes free Gibson custom shop hardshell case - a $220 value.
